The Fair Scarecrow Competition began in 2004 and it has become a major part of the Ditchling Fair. CLICK HERE TO ENTER!

Every Ditchling Fair has a 'theme' and this is used as the creative brief towards creating your scarecrow. It is open to all age groups, and it is an opportunity to be truly creative and let your imagination run wild.
Naturally there is a prize for the scarecrow that gets the most votes, but simply to take part is the best part. There is nothing too elaborate nor too simple; it is simply about having fun and giving pleasure to everyone. Be it creating it from found up-cycled items about the home or crafting it from scratch, please just sign up and enjoy yourself!

The Ditchling Fair theme in 2024 is ‘Rogues, Raves and Razzmatazz!’, and if you need some inspiration below are galleries of past scarecrows. Just be sure that your scarecrow is in the gallery!
To enter this year, simply click HERE and download the form (don’t forget your email address!), once complete pass it into the Village Post office along with your £2 fee. We will then send you a scarecrow welcome pack via email including a ‘number’ to display alongside your scarecrow.
Remember, you are asked to vote for your favourite scarecrow using a voting slip included in the fair programme, also handed into the post office – the closing date for voting is midday on Fair day.

Ditchling Fair is run entirely by a dedicated team of volunteers. Not only is it hugely rewarding helping with the lead up as the fair comes together, but also on the day itself it is simply wonderful to be able to get involved and ensure the fair’s success.
