Ditchling Village Association

The Ditchling Village Association (DVA) was formed in 1947 to coordinate the activities of the various clubs and societies in the village. It continues as an organising body working in coordination with the many varied local organisations to promote cooperation between all sections of the community.

The objects of the Association are: To unite all who live in the Parish of Ditchling for the good of all.

• To promote the welfare and wellbeing of all who live in the Parish of Ditchling.
• To help, support and encourage each Council, Society and Club to fulfil its particular objectives.
• The Ditchling biennial Fair is our only regular source of funding and we are most grateful to everyone who contributes in any way to its continued success. It enables us to:
• Produce a Good Neighbours Directory which is a guide to organisations and facilities in the Village and is given to all new residents and can also been found on the DVA website (Ditchling.com).
• Hold an annual Newcomers’ Party in March to welcome all residents new to the village since the last party and give them the opportunity to meet representatives of all the societies
• Help towards the funding of the Sports Day.
• Fund an over 60s event, usually around Christmas.
• Fund the hire of the village hall for the Coffee and Cake mornings run by individual societies/organisations on the third Tuesday of each month. There is no charge, and it is open to all ages to give people the opportunity to meet old friends and make new ones. Consider and make grants to the village organisations.

My very grateful thanks to the Fair’s joint Chairmen, Simon Woplin and Jack Daniels. They kindly put themselves forward and have built a wonderful team of volunteers to help with the organising and running of the 2022 Ditchling Village Fair.

Without volunteers giving up their time there would not be a Fair. We are all very grateful. Finally, I wish to thank all the societies and organisations for their input and of course a thank you to everyone attending and supporting our wonderful Fair, I hope you find it a fun and entertaining day.
